Gårdsguiden
Possibly the most complete farm map in Sweden — every farm selling directly to consumers, on one map. Built one Easter weekend and a few hundred bugs later.
What it is
Possibly the most complete farm map in Sweden. I can't prove it, but I think it is. Every farm selling directly to consumers, meat, vegetables, dairy, wine, pinned on a single interactive map. Filter by what they sell, where they are, and what's in season.
Why I made it
I saw Ulf Kristersson (the Swedish prime minister) on TV drinking wine at a farm and thought: where the hell is he, that looks lovely, if only there was a place that had all of these gathered. Said and done. One Easter weekend, countless bugs, and about 2000kr in Claude Code tokens later, gardsguiden.se was live. It went so fast I never actually checked if anything like this already existed (hint: plenty does). You choose which one you use. ;)
What I learned
A few things, in order of how much they hurt.
One, AI-assisted coding is incredible, in the hands of someone who actually knows what they're doing. For the rest of us, it's a very confident intern who will hand you a beautifully formatted disaster and tell you it's production-ready. Real developers aren't going anywhere. If anything, the good ones are about to get terrifyingly fast.
Two, databases are hard. I know this because version one was 100% AI slop, and I have exactly zero skills to validate any of it. I had to do a full migration once I realised what I'd shipped. Postgres did not laugh, but I imagine it wanted to.
Three, the login-and-claim-your-farm flow. Don't get me started on authentication. There's still a bug there I can't solve, and I've made peace with it.
